I am now in the midst of preparing for exams, trying to fight the temptation of doing everything else but study. And daily, I have thoughts and fears of failing, of not graduating.

One day, the Lord asked me: "So what if you didn't graduate Charissa? Does that make you a failure?? Will you really die??"

After thinking about that question seriously, my answer is: No.

If I dont make it in the end, I know that people will talk, and my family would be disappointed, and blah blah blah. But all these worries are of what others would think of me.

2 Cor 5:9-10 "9So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad."

Reading 2 Cor reminds me to constantly focus on the eternal. So what if I dont make it? By God's grace, the vision that He has given me of me graduating with my friends will take place. Yet even if it doesn't, I choose to remember the fact that everything here and now, everything seen is temporal.

2 Cor 4:1-5 "1Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, 3because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."

2 Cor 5:7 "We live by faith, not by sight."

My future isnt the career I'm going to have, the ministry I'm given or the family I build. My future lies in heaven.

Lord, I pray that You will renew my mind each and everyday, reminding me that all that is here on earth is but a shadow of what is above. Keep me focused on my purpose on earth but let my hope come from what Jesus did on the cross. I desire to be that jar of treasure for You. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
