laws of attraction

saturday: Am now reading the book, Boy Meets Girl by Joshua Harris. It's a book about courtship & how God intended for male-female relationships to be. Decided to read it so as to find out what to expect from God about my future relationship and how to conduct myself. Also think it is important for a leader (or future leader, in my case) to know such things so that I will be able to guide my girls when it comes to their turn.

As I read the book, I keep thinking about what is the reason for one person to be drawn to another. Talking about attraction in general. Why is it that I am drawn to talk to a sister-in-Christ or find a particular type of guys attractive? How does one explain or describe the chemistry between 2 people?

Believe that as with all things, the 'chemical X' that causes 1 person to be interested in or attracted to another is none other than my heavenly Father. He is the Creator of all things, including our relationships. Relationships with our family, our friends, and people who are special to us.

A prime example of this would be how I met my spiritual mama, Wanting. During the 1st 3 months after my 'O' levels, I didn't really know which JC I wanted to attend. I just kinda floated around, in denial, telling God, "O, just decide for me would You?" The week before I needed to register my choices, I came to know of SAJC (Saint Andrew's Junior College). My friend, Amy, started telling me great stuff about the plan, how the uniform is cool (which it is) and that it's a fun place. And I decided I wanted to go there.

My parents thought I was crazy because of the distance (it took approximately 1½ hours to get there by bus) but by God's grace, I managed to get in. During orientation, I met an ex-primary school friend, Ting Ting (aka Is-a-bell). We were never close in primary school and hadn't seen each other in years. But according to His plan, we ended up in the same class and she was the one who invited me to cell group.

I don't know what happened exactly, but apparently I enjoyed myself there so much, I started to attend cell group regularly and eventually agreed to go for encounter weekend. Believe that my MaMa must have prayed really hard or something cos' it all happened so fast it kinda didn't register. Not long after encounter weekend, I switched churches and started attending FCBC. And I've been there ever since.

When I think back on how I came to be part of my spiritual family, I can't help but be amazed & acknowledge that He is indeed in control of all things. To think I got into a JC I had never heard of until a week before registration, met & became good friends with my ex-pri school mate and got my parents to say "Yes" to allowing me to attend the encounter weekend, all within the span of 6 months. Wow, only God is able to plan things in such a beautiful and flawless way!! Truly, relationships are formed by Him.

And I thank Him for giving me the chance to have so many meaningful and fulfilling relationships. Pray that He will bless me with more of them and that I will be a tool of blessing and love to others. Thank you Father..
