Happy Birthday Mimi

It's 9:19 on the 4th of August 2006, 3 days from mimi's birthday and I'm starting to work on her birthday posting. WHY??? Guess it's the Singaporean kiasu spirit in me that wants to get this posting perfect for my wonderful mother. Know that the final posting will be very different from the 1st draft cos I'll keep making changes.. But I want to do this for my mimi as a means of saying I LOVE YOU!!

Proverbs 31:10-31
"10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life...
15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls...
17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks...
20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the need...
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land...
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 "Many women do noble things but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

Whenever I read this Psalm which describes the wife of a noble character, I can't help but to be reminded of my mother. Yes you mommy! :)

For those of you who do not know my mom, give me a min to describe her. My mom is an amazing woman, one whose heart is open and willing to love. She is humble and gentle in spirit, choosing to serve others in all she does. My mom's laughter has a beautiful ring to it and her smile lights up a room. She disciplines us in love and there is kindness in her speech. Basically she’s a supermom! And she's mine!!

Want to take this time to honour my mommy and thank God for her. Hey mom, this has been a great year for you. Going for mission trip and becoming a cell leader (Yes! A cell leader, not a cell leader's wife.. :) ) It is a joy to see you surrender your life to the Lord and choosing to honour Him in the things you do. Though it is never easy, God can & will give you the strength to carry on until you reach the finish line. I am thankful for such a wonderful role model. Know that when I get married, I’ll be able to love my husband & children the way God intended for it to be because of your beautiful example. Thank you Lord!

Mimi, pray that the Lord will bless you abundantly in all the things you do, that He will use you as a means of sharing His love. May God open up your womb like He did for Sarah and birth the nations through you. Continue to rise up to become all that God planned for you to be. Amen! Love you...
